A Heap of Anime News Dropped During the Festive Season

The Yuletide season offer a multitude of activities much better than catching up on the latest news: discovering surprises, feasting on delicious food, and employing meditation skills to not arguing with family members. It is wished you were able to accomplish all these things and more. Nevertheless, the entertainment world doesn't take a break, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. A slew of exciting developments came out over the festive period, and if you didn't see some of them, here is a compilation of the biggest bits.

The One-Punch Man Series Its Third Season Will Continue (In 2027)

Perhaps the most surprising revelation, the widely-criticized controversial season that was the third season of One-Punch Man failed to halt more episodes. Season 3 will return with a follow-up batch of episodes in 2027—a date so remote they could have called it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be in charge. On a positive note this time, director Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the beginning, which is seen as a positive development. Yet, the promotional image for the continuation is the same image the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This suggests that, by now, they could be trolling the fans.

Ruri Dragon Will Be the First Shonen Jump Anime Produced By Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has forged a standing for being an elite animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the high caliber of its productions but for the fair treatment of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had never worked on an anime based on a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, arguably the most iconic magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became massive popularity when it debuted in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the creator's health issues. When it resumed publication with a more relaxed pace, the series showed it still retained the fans' appreciation and goodwill, and now fans are overjoyed about the impending KyoAni adaptation.

The Kingdom Series Its Sixth Season Will Get a Sequel Now in the Works

Kingdom is the best-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only recently got an English translation, but the anime has been going on for a while, and season 6 was a further excellent entry. As it happens that was just the first cour, because a "sequel" has been revealed as in production, and it will probably debut in 2026.

Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia To Anime

A further studio known for the superior craftsmanship of its productions, Science Saru has given us critically acclaimed works of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the true story of Fatima, an powerful woman and scholar in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Based on the trailer, the anime named Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and captivating visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my must-watch list.

Tougen Anki Is Set to Continue With a Second Season

Right after the conclusion of its twenty-fourth episode, it was confirmed that Tougen Anki will be receiving a sequel. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The second season of the anime will delve into the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a specific premiere date has not been disclosed yet.
