Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
