Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing chaos and mayhem with the same enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those qualities.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by introducing a different backdrop and group of personalities in every instalment.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their constant belief and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our common unconventional, daring approach to the audience.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
