Rob Edwards and O'Neil Among Wolves Managerial Contenders

Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton manager - who played over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club directors as they start the process of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to provide any buyout fee.
