🔗 Share this article The Game UN:Me: An Psychological Horror That Blends Silent Hill and Social Deduction Gameplay The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled a number of intriguing future games, but one in particular has seized attention: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience appears to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us. "It's a unique game where a girl containing multiple human souls within her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Fractured Consciousness In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of teenage years. Within her reside four separate personas, all possessing their own anxieties and motivations. These entities can take over spontaneously, releasing their innermost terrors upon her without warning. Judging by revealed footage, much of the action takes place within a creepy medical facility, while other scenes show the protagonist exploring a abandoned church. An Environment of Individual Dread "What makes you afraid of? What causes you uncomfortable?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "High places. Small rooms. People in power. Elements that seem trivial to others can activate a deep instinct within us. This game explores that idea — anxieties that are specific to every individual." The central mechanic revolves around managing whichever soul emerges at a particular time. However, these identities will switch against your will during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become amplified and attack the protagonist in succession. When the soul shifts, so does the specific fear the player encounters. Unsettling Visuals and a Fatal Decision Initially, UN:Me shares striking aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill series. The setting is filled with orderlies who all share the identical visage, with disturbingly broad grins. Patients in the lobby have enormous blooms where their heads are. Floral motifs are an ever-present element, juxtaposing organic elegance with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me presents a singular twist. Players must determine which of the four souls inhabiting the protagonist is the "real" one. "All four personas claims that the physical form belongs to them," notes a developer. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real." After a player believes a soul is an impostor, they must eliminate it. But, because every entity can lie or obfuscate the reality, it is incredibly simple to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already eliminated the true [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The final entity standing could be a fraud. In any case, your decisions are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced launch window, but it is available to wishlist on digital storefronts.
