The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as pardoning festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future away from worry.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: joyful, diverse, and based in heritage that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and cafecito as they toasted the pig's pardon.
